From techno/house club tracks to synth-pop radio hits — and back again.

Kyle Schember and Christian Mauch team up to form the first iteration of Channel 69, producing techno/house tracks with the goal of getting played in local clubs.
Channel 69's first release is a track called "Y.D.N.A." Released on local Dallas Metropolis label on 12" vinyl. Distributed to local DJs and spun by Jeff K. on 94.5 KDGE's "EdgeClub".
John Allen Moore, Kyle's high school friend and former band-mate in West of Nowhere, joins the band as the soon-to-be lead vocalist for Channel 69.
New York label J.P.I.L / Pure Music records signs Channel 69 and releases "10,9,8,7,69" on 12" vinyl and CD with remixes by Mark G! of Darwin Chamber. The band begins writing vocal tracks — beginning their journey as a leading Dallas synth-pop act. View in Discography →
The band lands their first official gig at The Wave in Dallas. A live CD of the show was recorded. Also around this time, the band lugs an old TV and rabbit ears to an empty house in Dallas for their first promotional shoot.
December 3, 1992 — the band is interviewed on 94.5 KDGE's EdgeClub with Jeff K., debuting new vocal tracks not yet released. Hear the interview →
Channel 69's first synth-pop release features breakout song "Exposure". After being included on the "Tales from the Edge" compilation of local Dallas artists, it hits #1 most requested on 94.5 KDGE — above U2's "Numb". View in Discography →
Stone Core Films in Dallas is commissioned by The Playboy Channel to film the music video for "Words (Go Away)" for their MTV-style "Girls of Hooters" show. Directed by Norry Niven. Also included on the "Edge Home Movie" available in Blockbuster Video. Watch the video →
Originally titled "At Full Length", Channel 69's first album is released on J.P.I.L / Pure Music Records. First single "Promise Is Breaking" hits #3 on 104.1 KRBE in Houston alongside Nirvana, Pearl Jam and U2. View in Discography →
After recording at Dub One Studios owned by Steve Paul, Steve becomes an official member of Channel 69 as guitarist.
In January 1995, Channel 69 is signed to San Francisco label Visible Records and releases the remastered album as "1min 50secs of Guilt". First single "Believe" features remixes from Will Loconto, Release, Seofon and Channel 69. View in Discography →
In 1995, Channel 69 disbands and plays their last show on April 8, 1995 in Oklahoma City at the Bricktown Brewery — two weeks before the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing.
Channel 69 remains on hiatus for 24 years. During this time, a few previously unreleased tracks are released as digital singles (2010, 2012) and the band releases compilation tracks, but remains inactive as a live act.
After 24 years of hiatus, the band gets back together to play #Numbers in Houston on May 4th and Trees in Dallas on May 5th. Their return single "Another Gotcha" hits #1 on KB Radio Canada for 3 weeks. Read the Dallas Observer article →
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Channel 69 releases multiple singles: "Not a Love Song" remixed EP, "Welcome to the End" (Anything Box cover), "Another Gotcha – Glitch Mix", and covers of Book of Love's "Boy" featuring Dania Morales of Anything Box.
Channel 69 teams up with Rob Rowe of Cause & Effect to cover Q Lazzarus' "Goodbye Horses" and with Dania Morales of Anything Box for Book of Love's "I Touch Roses", both for the Numbers Covered Part II compilation.
Channel 69 covers the Psychedelic Furs' "Fall" for the Heartbreak Beat tribute compilation (2022), then releases it as the Fall Remixed EP (2023), an official single (2023), and Britain's Funkadelic Mix (2024).
Channel 69 reunites with Dania Morales of Anything Box for the Rebirth Mix of "Not a Love Song" — a bold reimagining of the track first explored during the pandemic years, now reborn with a fresh sonic identity. Listen on Bandcamp →
